Research Interests
Our research group uses experimental rock deformation to measure the rheologic, hydraulic, and petrophysical properties of subduction-related rocks. We house the 3 experimental apparatus described below, and I am happy to work with a researcher to design a suite of measurements that could be made in one month. Given the duration of the potential visit, it would work best if the lab measurements were designed to supplement a larger dataset or project rather than stand alone. The visitor would work with myself and one other member of our group, either a PhD student or research scientist.
Proposed Hosting Period
Our lab is flexible, although I would prefer NOT December or May.
Exchange Language
I only speak English but one of our group members is bilingual in Spanish and is available to mentor.
Facilities/Resources
We house 3 experimental apparatus, two triaxial apparatus that achieve 200 MPa confining and fluid pressure and 400 C, and one unconfined lever arm creep apparatus that achieves 1200 C. Any of these could be used for a one-month project.
