Research Interests
My research focuses on megathrust earthquakes and tsunamis, particularly the reconstruction of historical earthquake rupture processes using tsunami tide gauge observations, numerical modeling, and modern geophysical datasets. I am also interested in earthquake source physics, tsunami hazard, and the long-term behavior of subduction zones.
Visiting researchers will develop an independent research project that can be tailored to their interests and background. Potential topics include historical earthquakes in Chile, Alaska-Aleutians, or other subduction zones, tsunami modeling, historical tsunami data analysis, tsunami source characterization, and related problems in subduction-zone geohazards. Depending on the project, participants may work with tsunami datasets, numerical models, or other geophysical data.
I encourage participants to contact me before applying so we can develop a project that matches their interests and has the potential to lead to a conference presentation or scientific publication.
