SZNet Student and Early Career Exchange Program

Participant Application Form

Deadline for Submission: November 17, 2024 (deadline extended)

A PDF of the application with all the required questions and the associated rubric is here. We recommend drafting your answers prior to filling out this form, as your progress will not be saved if you exit the form halfway through completing your application.

To learn more about the program, please review the program webpage here.

This program will partner US and Chilean labs, observatories, field sites, or other scientific institutions with students and early career scientists with similar research interests and goals from the partner country. Funds are available for these scientists to visit the host institution in partner countries for up to 28 days.

Applicants should reach out to the hosts that align with their research interests to define a project either by perusing our list of interested hosts or by contacting a researcher or institution in the partner country that applicants already have a relationship with. Each applicant must submit a letter of collaboration from their chosen host indicating that they have discussed potential projects together. Past experience shows that applicants who discuss projects with their host prior to completing the application fare better in the review process.

If you would like to participate in this program and conduct an independent research project at a host institution in a partner country, we invite you to complete this application by November 17, 2024 (deadline extended). Applications submitted after this date will not be considered.

Applications will be reviewed by the Student Exchange Subcommittee of the SZNet Coordinating Committee. Notification Letters will be sent out in late November.

Exchange Program duration: Up to 28 days

Funding: Participant support for travel, food, and lodging will be covered by SZNet which is supported by funding from the National Science Foundation AccelNet program under award 2301732.

Eligibility: This exchange program is limited to participants based at or enrolled in US or Chilean institutions. Applicants must be students or early career scientists/researchers within 3 year of receiving their latest degree.
