Research Interests
We are pushing the state-of-the-art in using seafloor geodetic techniques and modeling to understand the coupling behavior offshore in subduction zones. The goal of the general research is in resolving the locking that builds up for particularly large and tsunamigenic earthquakes. In a month visit, the participant will learn much more about seafloor geodesy, particularly GNSS-Acoustic methods, and develop skills for analytic modeling of deformation, and/or developing feasibility studies for future deployments of your own. We have a small but close-knit research group, and have many additional students in seismology, volcanology, magnetotellurics, and cryospheric sciences that we often interact with. If visiting during our school year, we have weekly group meetings/paper discussions, departmental seminars, and geophysics seminars, all in which to expand our knowledge and increase communications within our program.
