Francisco Delgado

I am interested on the use of InSAR to measure ground deformation due to volcanic, tectonics, glacial, and anthropic processes. I am also interested in the calibration and validation of data from new SAR missions and the development of tools to make better use of InSAR. In particular, I am deeply interested for L, and P-band data, which are the most useful for the challenging environmental conditions of mid and high latitudes, which are the regions I focus the vast majority of my work on. Current projects involve volcano dynamics in the Southern Andes (Cordon Caulle and Hudson volcanoes), Alaska (Aniakchak Crater), and the 2018 Kilauea eruption; active tectonics of the plate boundary between the Scotia and South America plates (Magallanes - Fagnano fault) and several active faults in south America, and glacier dynamics in the Patagonian Icefields. I am also open to applications from students that are unrelated to these specific projects but that are related to my research interests. Students can also join fieldwork that we undertake during the year to active volcanic regions.
