Research Interests
My research group aims to systematically investigate the dynamic evolution of the Earth’s lithosphere across various spatial and temporal scales, utilizing advanced seismological methods and high-performance computing clusters. These goals are approached with individual projects addressing the following key questions: 1) How are lithospheric modifications connected to the formation and evolution of surface tectonics? 2) What are the depth extents of boundaries between major tectonic terranes? 3) How do modern lithospheric structures reflect past tectonic events? 4) What role do mantle flows play in lithospheric modification?
For this exchange program, I am looking for an applicant to conduct research on seismicity analysis at subduction zones, with potential focus ranging from plate interface, overriding plate, to arc volcanoes. The project will involve the application of machine-learning-based workflow (developed by my group) to detect and location earthquakes and the interpretation of the resultant catalog for subduction dynamics or eruptive behavior of volcanoes. Applicants should have some background in seismology, tectonics, and python programming.
