Research Interests
The Jackson group at the University of Kansas applies techniques from terrestrial and seafloor geodesy to study subduction zone behavior and earthquake hazards. One of our interests is in newly discovered dynamically triggered coupling changes, which we are working on modeling in Chile. We are looking for a partnership to develop elastic Green's Functions for Chile to study this phenomenon. We are also interested in connecting with the seafloor geodesy community in Chile to exchange seafloor geodesy expertise. Prof. Jackson is a PI for multiple U.S. based seafloor geodesy projects using GNSS-Acoustic and seafloor optical fiber strainmeter instruments. Prof. Jackson meets individually with group members every two weeks, and as together as a group every two weeks as well. Our group currently includes three PhD students from multiple countries and we maintain a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Prof. Noel M. Jackson received a PhD in Geophysics from Stanford University in 2013 and a BS in Physics from Carnegie Mellon in 2007.
