Research Interests

The Jackson group at the University of Kansas studies active crustal deformation and the physical interactions between slow fault slip and earthquakes using geodesy and inverse theory. We combine geodetic data types, such as GNSS and strain data, and also utilize seafloor geodetic data to study fault slip processes. One current project uses a seafloor optical fiber strain meter to hunt for shallow slow slip events offshore in Cascadia.

Our research group meets as group once every two weeks. Our graduate students come from 4 different countries around the world and we emphasize an inclusive research environment.
