Research Interests
Volcano Petrology, Igneous Geochemistry and Isotope Geochemistry. Geochronology (U-Pb zircon, U-series, etc.).
My lab currently conducts study of volcanic and plutonic igneous rocks mainly from continental arc volcanoes, mostly in the Central Andes. We have in the lab preparation and analytical equipment to conduct trace element and major element analysis by ICP-MS, LA-ICP-MS, and ICP-OES. We have a fully operational thin section and mineral separation lab. I also collaborate with the University of Iowa, the University of Arkansas, and New Mexico State University where I regularly visit to use XRF, Electron Microprobe, and Sr, Nd, and Pb isotope analysis. All visitors will gain experience using the analytical equipment necessary for their project.
