Research Interests
My research focuses on characterizing and understanding the various ways in which faults slip, particularly at scales appropriate to and constrained observationally from seismic and geodetic monitoring data. I am most interested in transient aseismic 'slow slip events' and what can be learned about it from often-accompanying tremor and other small seismic signals (e.g., low frequency earthquakes, swarms). I work on this with several collaborators.
Proposed Hosting Period
I have no specific restrictions on the particular month during 2026.
Exchange Language
The project will be conducted in English. However, I have been studying Spanish, can function in Spanish at a very basic level, and would love to practice!
Facilities/Resources
The research I envision does not involve any field work, so all this is required is a dedicated computer that the USGS can provide. The USGS office and facilities are on the campus of the University of Washington's (UW) embedded within the Dept. of Earth and Space Sciences (ESS), so the participant would likely share an office within the ESS with one or several other early career researchers from the USGS and/or the UW (either students, post-docs, or very new research staff).
